Grafters

grafters.jpgWith its origins in the 1950s, Grafters played a significant role in influencing and shaping many youth subcultures in Britain. Initially adopted by skinheads who were mainly London’s working-class youth, the use of Grafters soon spread across other youth subcultures and areas.

As skinheads were primarily impacted by mod fashion, the bespoke styling of the high-booted Grafters monkey boots appealed to them. During World War II, the Czechoslovakian army issued monkey boots as the standard issue footwear. After the war ended, monkey boots became available in military surplus stores and quickly became a favourite fashion statement.
