Harley of Scotland is a classic Scottish knitwear brand, known for their lambs wool and merino wool Fair Isle jumpers. It was founded in 1929 by Peter Harley, who was inspired by the Scottish coastline and his experience as a fisherman. The company was originally called 'Glenugie Knitwear', becoming Harley of Scotland in 1973. While out at sea, Peter Harley would observe the traditional knitting industries on islands like Shetland and Fair Isle. Each jumper had a specific regional pattern that had symbolism for fishermen. Using Shetland wool and Fair Isle designs, Harley made jumpers with comfort and warmth in mind, so they could be worn in the Northern Scottish climate that they were inspired by.

In 1968, Peter's son began distributing Harley of Scotland jumpers globally, quickly leading to expansion of the brand. In 2001, Harley of Scotland was one of the only brands offering seam free production techniques to complement its traditional practices, enhancing comfort and fit.

With nearly 100 years of producing the finest knitwear, Harley of Scotland has gained an impeccable reputation. Shop our collection of Harley of Scotland here.
