Fila was founded in 1911 in Biella, Italy, by the Fila brothers, although the brand didn’t move into the realms of sportswear (most significantly tennis wear) until the 1970’s, where it found its niche. Fila began to sponsor tennis players, most notably the legendary Swedish player Bjorn Borg. The most iconic item of Fila sportswear worn by Borg was the pinstripe polo shirt, as well as the Settanta track top in red and navy, both of which Borg wore throughout the late 70’s and 80’s at Wimbledon and the French Open.
