Ben Sherman

ben-sherman.jpgBorn Arthur Benjamin Sugarman in 1925 in Brighton, he changed his name to Ben Sherman after shifting to America post-WW2. He soon moved back to Britain and started manufacturing shirts for other companies. In 1963, Ben Sherman began producing shirts for his own company.

Coincidentally, the post-war teddy boy movement was at its height. Due to its high quality, slim fit, bold color, and unique design, Ben Sherman apparel was quickly adopted by the teddy boys, mods, and rockers during the ‘60s and ‘70s. It soon started selling other kinds of men’s clothing. Worn by influential bands of that time, Ben Sherman became part of the classic British look and an iconic brand.
